The "flash" foam layer of insulation is done. Although you pay for only 1", it expands to about 3". The 1" makes it affordable compared to all foam. Now a guy is trimming and adding fiberglass batts on top.
Dad is always encouraging Mom to try new things. This week he got her to insulate the shop/garage!!
Zoey invites you to view her scrapbook as her parents build her a new house overlooking Sugar Pine Creek!

Mom is still working on this pile of dirt in the front of the house. She put us on it. She digs down to a gopher hole then points to it!! We can spread some dirt!
The baffles were installed in the gable roof, prior to the foam layer. One of my friends put us on to "flash and batt" insulation which is what we're going to do!! It's a 2 in. layer of foam, then fiberglass batts on top. It's less expensive than all foam and closest to the SIP's (structural insulated panels) which was the original idea. The baffles allow air flow along the roof surface to equalize temperatures between outside and inside.
The stairs were moved about 6" back; now our tall friends can go upstairs without hitting their heads!
Also finished the south side porch roof with T&G.

Neighbor Eddie came and cut hay. He'll be baling this week. Dad mowed all the areas that the hayer couldn't get to.
Dad got one wood shed full!!

We went on our first, overnight, family camping trip to the coast to see the solar eclipse!! The fog rolled in right before the eclipse but we had fun on the beach and hiking the trails. Dad let me sleep on the bed of the VW camper with him and Mom! Dad thought I was cuddly. Mom thinks I'm way too big for that tiny bed. Osker slept on the floor.
This is the view right as the eclipse was happening!
Uncle Walt and Gretha stopped by this week! They bring the best treats!! Uncle Walt helped Mom put up more tongue and groove pine on the porch ceiling. It's hard muscling the boards in place with your hands over your head.

Gosh! Time flies when you're doing the same thing every day! Siding and wiring...
The siding is to the point of setting up scaffolding and will require two people to finish the gable ends on the garage.
We have our electrical inspection scheduled for Monday, Yea!!!!! Then we'll call for the framing inspection!
It's warmed up enough that Mom is finishing the exterior doors (1 started, 6 to go)!
Me an Osker have been keeping an eye on Mom when she works in the garden, and Dad when he's mowing. We've been playing in the creek, going on daily walks, and Mom is trying to teach us to heel--yeah, right.
